Another sucky name...oh well. Bassist Scott Lowe left the Dripdrys in 1986, and Brock Hamper replaced him. Brock brought more of a new wave element to the band with his original songs. They were kind of a cross between The Police and The Romantics. I was also writing more in the power pop vein (think Gary Myrick feeling up 80s Stones while frenching Devo), and Patrick was writing a lot too by then. So we changed the name to reflect the various changes. And we dropped most of the cover tunes. This band was short-lived, as I quickly lost interest, and the old fans we still had left wanted to hear mostly covers. I started reconnecting with the downtown crowd again, who were just starting to light the spark that would fire up Seattle's claim to music fame - gruuuunnnnggge, duuuude. |
